On a motorway, you must also keep as far right as practicable, taking account of what each lane is for. You may use the left-hand lane for overtaking, for example, but cannot choose it without a reason. The exit lane visible on the right is for leaving the motorway, so you do not have to enter it when continuing along the motorway.
