What conditions must be met when transporting a child in the back seat of a passenger car?
aThe child being carried is at least 135 cm tall and fastened only with seat belts, as the weight and height precludes carriage in a safety seat or other child restraint systems.
bThe child being carried is at least 125 cm tall and is only fastened with seat belts, as its weight and height precludes carriage in a safety seat.
cThe speed must not exceed 50 km/h.
Why?
A child who is at least 135 cm but under 150 cm tall may exceptionally travel in the rear seat using only a seat belt if their weight and height make it impossible to provide a suitable child seat or other restraint. All these conditions must apply together, as in A. A height of 125 cm is insufficient, and keeping below 50 km/h does not replace the required restraint.
