Is it proper in this situation to continue driving on the same lane?

Why?

The broken P-7a line on the right marks the edge of the carriageway, not the boundary between traffic lanes. Beyond it is the shoulder, where cars are parked. Continuing in your lane is correct because keeping close to the right edge does not mean driving on the shoulder.
