Are you obliged to give way to a pedestrian entering a crossing?

Why?

You must give way to a pedestrian entering the crossing, without waiting until they reach its centre. In the final frame, a pedestrian is stepping onto the zebra crossing from the right. Slow down and stop if necessary to let them cross safely.
