What does a safe distance you should keep while driving behind another car depend on?
aOn the speed with which you're driving.
bOn the power of your engine.
cOn the width of the road.
Why?
When following the white van shown, adjust your following distance primarily to your speed. The faster you travel, the farther you move during reaction and braking, so you need a larger gap. Engine power and road width do not determine the distance needed to avoid hitting the vehicle ahead.
