What should be your first reaction when a child fastened in a child safety seat chokes on food?
aGo to hospital as quickly as possible.
bStop the car, take out the child and, holding it head downwards, pat it on the back.
cCall an ambulance by telephone, without offering any help to the child.

Why?

First stop the car safely and take the child out of the car seat shown so you can provide first aid. If the child is conscious but cannot cough effectively, support them, lean them forward and give up to five blows between the shoulder blades; an infant should be positioned with their supported head lower than their torso. If coughing is effective, encourage it and monitor the child. Driving to hospital or only calling an ambulance without providing first aid delays clearing the airway, so call 112 while helping the child.
