What behaviour increases the risk of skidding on icy road surfaces?

aMaintaining too high speed, particularly in bends.
bDriving at constant speed.
cDriving in second gear.
Why?
The photo shows a left-hand bend with snow and slush on the road. Excessive speed increases the risk of skidding because more grip is needed to maintain the car's path through the bend. A steady speed or second gear does not itself cause a skid, but the speed must always suit the road surface and layout.
