What distance should you keep while overtaking a group of pedestrians?

aSafe but not shorter than 0.6 metres.
bSafe but not shorter than 0.8 metres.
cSafe but not shorter than 1 metre.

Why?

When overtaking a column of pedestrians, you must leave a safe lateral clearance of at least 1 metre. If conditions require more space, 1 metre alone is not enough. A and B are incorrect because 0.6 and 0.8 metres are below the required minimum.
