What may be the effect a leaking exhaust system in a motor vehicle?

aIncreased engine capacity.
bIncreased level of noise produced by the vehicle.
cIncreased use of engine oil.
Why?
The photo shows the tailpipe of the exhaust system, which carries away exhaust gases and reduces engine noise. A leak can let gases escape through a damaged section, making the exhaust louder. It does not increase engine capacity and does not, by itself, mean that the engine burns more oil.
